While this may seem like a detour from tracking the Serpent’s seed through out history, the rainbow is such an extraordinary and huge metaphor for how God redeems us from the world, it is worth the illustration – especially in light of it being the promise given after the destructive and thorough flood. Hopefully it will provoke wonder the next time you see one!
The oceans cover 70% of the earths surface and as we all know, life on land (people, animals and vegetation) are not sustained by salt water – we need fresh water to drink and grow by. The salt in sea water is more a categorical term that means a composite of everything. In fact, it has been described as a saline solution of all things. In other words, it includes everything dissolved and diluted from the earth’s contents from the flood.
Remarkably the majority of fresh water on earth comes from rain – rain that by and large is created from the salty oceans. So how does salty ocean water become fresh water? When the energy of light penetrates the surface of the ocean, the water bound to molecules escapes and rises above into the atmosphere. When the atmosphere is heavy enough with fresh water, gravity pulls it to the ground. That is a magnificent process!
The majority of life-sustaining fresh water upon the earth goes through a divisionary process to become fresh and new! Metaphorically, that is what just happened to Noah and the Ark, they were bound in a world of sin, escaped up and came back down with a testimony! Likewise for us, God finds us diluted in a world of sin and the energy of God’s light penetrates us, unbinds us from sin’s hold and we escape and become fresh life-sustaining water for those around us. No matter how you look at it, physically or spiritually, rain is a miracle! In fact, God even said that it was a sign of His covenant that He would make between us and Him!
Even more juicy, within God’s amazing rainbow, every rain drop is a prism conductor of light, the same light that unbounded each and every drop has become a unit to publish and reveal that light! Now we can see just how the rainbow punctuates God’s divisionary process to set us free! When God rains from heaven, He is communicating and releasing His mind about the matter! In fact, from this time forth, rain became the messenger of God to the peoples of the earth. There are 105 verses that illustrate God’s Word spoken through rain. Just for starters, here are a few,
His impartial kindness,
for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matt 5:45
His approval
And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season… Deut 11:13, 14
His disapproval
Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, lest the Lord’s anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you. Deut 11:16, 17
His judgments
Therefore thus says the Lord God: “I will cause a stormy wind to break forth in My fury; and there shall be a flooding rain in My anger, and great hailstones in fury to consume it. Ezek 13:13
His prophetic movements
Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth. Hos 6:3
His Millennial Reign
And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left (from the tribulation) of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain. Zech 10:16-18
