TODAY is Shavuot/Pentecost the 50th day after Passover! Why is that important?

When Moses was sent to Pharoah to tell him to let God's people go SO THAT they could go worship Him in the wilderness, Shavuot/Pentecost was that meeting. 

After the Passover in Eygpt, the Children of Israel made their Exodus from the slavery and limitation of Eygpt, towards this meeting place of worship in the wilderness. It was a formal meeting where God was about to make a Covenant with the people of Israel. Unbeknowns to them, God Himself was going to speak to them DIRECTLY from heaven to earth. And that He did, and made a Covenant with them, and gave from His Heart to their heart, the Torah - His MANIFEST spoken word!

As much as we want to be in covenant with The Lord, we can not fulfill our part of a mutual relational covenant. God allows each of us to experiencially become aware of this insufficiency on our part with THE PROMISE of providing a New Covenant. Instead of the Word written on two tablets of stone EXTERNAL to us, His PROMISE was to write His Word WITHIN our hearts, His heart being INTERNALIZED within our hearts! 

Jesus came as the MANIFEST Word and became the Passover Lamb SO THAT through His death, burial and resurrection, we could Exodus sin, and go meet with Him -- an appointment with God where we are invited to receive the New Covenant. That appointment is on the 50th day of Shavuot/Pentecost! TODAY is that THAT DAY! 

We need to understand that the cross was a means of deliveance to SO THAT we could meet Him on Shavuot! What happened on the day of Shavuot/Pentcost? 

Just as there was fire on Mount Sinai and God spoke from heaven to earth, likewise on the fulfilled Day of Shavuot/Pentecost, 

"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Acts 2:1-4 

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a marginal or mere addition to our salvation, but THE WHOLE POINT! The cross was the Passover means to exit sin SO THAT we could meet God and that He would once again INDWELL His people as He did before the fall -- being born AGAIN BACK INTO SPIRITUAL UNION WITH a HOLY GOD -- His Word, His very Heart, written on our hearts! 

In paraphrase, when the people SAW this Shavuot/Pentecost moment, and Peter explained what was being fulfilled before their very eyes, they rightfully responded, "Well, what should we do?" 

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. “For THE PROMISE is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

TODAY IS THAT DAY - the DAY OF PROMISE for all who will open wide their hearts!
