If we could see and hear the Word of God externally, written on whatever external medium, whether two tablets of stones, the collective printed pages of a Bible, or electronically viewed on our phones, tablets and computers – it is still external knowledge. Though we come into agreement with it, it’s not enough for God to re-enter our inner sanctum or us to enter His.
Our very nature is corrupt, and we need cleansing. In our fallen nature, we did not and do not have the inner power to maintain and live in the fullness of God’s truth – though our conscience bears witness of the truth we still have the urge to merge.
God had designed yet another compression of Himself, Messiah, the Man Christ Jesus! He came for the sole purpose of cleansing, making atonement for our inner spirit realm so that He could re-enter our realm and we could re-enter His for mutual relationship. Atonement means “at-one-ment” – to be one or loving again. This promised Seed of the Father would atone for our corrupted conscience and allow for a re-entrance, re-birth, re-creation back into God’s realm of good and holy, that pleasurable state of unbroken fellowship with Him. It is at this very axis where God creates His greater creation, our “regenerate new man.” There in our regenerate inner heart, God would once again re-writes His Word, not on an external medium, but on our very hearts.
The word regeneration, in Greek is polygenesia, poly means oscillatory repetition back and forth and genesia means the genesis or origin of our beginning. The purpose of regeneration is to return us to our genesis through the effort of oscillatory repetition. Meaning, we are still given the choice between the Tree of Life and The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil – a choice between the old corrupt nature of sin or the new regenerate nature of righteousness – a choice which is ours to make between life and death.
Once we are born again, we are now equipped to address our internalized urge to merge of the lust of our flesh, the lust of our eye and our robust pride and ego of life. Our corrupt nature exists side by side with our new regenerate nature created in true righteousness and true holiness. They war against each other – we are not to be passive observes in this inner conflict, but aggressors, choosing an upright and overcoming life.
So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. Gal 5:16, 17 (NLT)
At best, many of us just try to appease both sides, rather than choosing one or the other. This is the fruit of the admixture, the bonding of the two – living by rationalizing our actions to believe that there is a little bit of evil in the good and a little bit of good in the evil. Only the re-internalized power of God’s Word written on our hearts, infused by the Holy Spirit, God’s abiding Presence, has the power to divide asunder the good and evil in our heart of conscience!
ALL spiritual warfare comes through the abdication of personal responsibility to engage in this conflict – it is Satan’s legal access point when we abdicate. And, ALL spiritual victory comes by taking personal responsibility in this process, making confession, entering into agreement with God’s truths, laying claim to the atonement of Jesus and making a choice (a divisionary process) between good and evil. God calls this process sanctification, which means to be set a part, holiness divided from evil! This is the process of re-becoming little Hims, His regenerate children who grow in victory from glory to glory!
To enter the Kingdom is to once again enter a voluntary divisionary process back to wholeness – all of us, our physical, mental, emotional, and sexual selves all integrating into a fulfilled satiated existence – Beloved, it is the good life! Howbeit many live far below our intended living experience as paraphrased from Psalm 82:6-7,
I said that you are gods, My very own offspring to judge, but you will die as mere men.
