Our Eternal Exchange Rate!
Our Eternal Exchange Rate!
In strict allegorical terms, consider my entire debt of sin over a lifetime adding up to $0.01. And all the sin in the world’s history adds up to $20 (obviously my sin was the most expensive throughout the ages). Then consider the SUPREMACY OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS would equate to something like $700 trillion – an extraordinary overcompensation for the debt owed!
There was nothing in the earthly realm that could add up to the required payment for the debt of sin against our Holy God or His Heavenly realm. Not only did Jesus pay the redemptive price for our souls, but He turned and offered us the change! “Keep the change! I give it to you to spend again and again lavishly in all righteousness -- freely you have received, free give!"
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Rom 10:4
Jesus is the permanent exchange rate for our sin. Whenever we become aware of something contrary to His revealed nature, then we get to exchange our unclean and unholy for His clean and holy -- freely -- whenever, wherever, however and here is the kicker, forever! This holy exchange of our sin for His Righteousness, we are invited to redeem His atonement as a passage ticket to wear His VALUE as a garment ! This very moment, if we are willing to believe, He has given us His exact ETERNAL VALUE equal unto Himself!
As mentioned earlier, the assurance of our salvation is based solely on the legal framework set forth in the Law which authorizes, authenticates and enforces the Blood of Jesus – His atonement meets the legal requirement of His Law. The full counsel and instruction of the Law, is not negative but positive in promoting good relations. It is our disobedience that is bad, which constituted the need for atonement. Let’s be clear, sin is bad and the Law is good,
For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. Rom 7:11-13
THE SUMPREMECAY OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS absolutely fulfilled all the requirements to atone for the penalties for breaking the Law. All our efforts to fulfill it, represents our coulda, shoulda, wouldas to get righteousness. But the New Covenant represents a transformation and regeneration of the very desires, motives and intents of our heart, the re-internalization of His eternal Word (Rom 2:12-16), being lived out from and in righteousness – making His desires our own! God’s standards have not changed!
Grace is the Divine influence and empowerment in our hearts to do the revealed will of God. God finds all of us powerless and weak, whether expressed in the highs of pride or the lows of defeat, but He doesn’t leave us there! He gives us the power and strength to overcome by grace!
Often, we make grace the misappropriated candy-stick for the victim mentality, comforting people in sin, rather than being delivered from sin! And then there is the polar extreme opposite of the subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, self-righteousness that claims grace as the fuel for self-sufficient determination, a particularly foul odor to Father! We all at some time or another have reduced and abused grace to fit our own sense of justice or natural desires, but true grace remains pristine and divine to motivate us towards God’s standard of living that He has revealed in His Word!
We often try to regulate grace by asking the question, “How far away from Father can one live in the world and still be under grace?" Beloved, there is more hope for a frog trying to leap across a busy highway during rush hour traffic without becoming road-kill than for the individual who desires the world over Father’s affections (1 John 2:15) -- it is the wrong question entirely!
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15
The appropriate response to the grace gifted by His righteousness is, “WOW, I get to be like Him! As He is, so has He called me to be in this world, WOW, really, WOW!"
Think about this, our comparisons of one another in beauty, bucks and brains is from a state of unbelief! Admittedly, if I was as cute, smart, rich as you that would be a big deal -- but that is not what Jesus has given us! He has not given us equality with each other, but with Him! Comparing ourselves with each other is a self-imposed lesser state of value! To deceive ourselves with an attitude of superiority or inferiority towards another is unbelief in what Jesus has given to each of us. Let's honor the value of Jesus in one another!
Our unfruitful attempts to legislate grace in earthly terms is invalid because grace is not earthly at all -- grace is most divine in every way! Grace came from Heaven to earth and those who overcome by grace will return in grace to Heaven!
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Eph 2:8-10
