Surely we can see the difference of Jesus getting rid or the curse of the law, not the truth of the law!
Have you ever considered that disobedience entered the Garden of Eden through the Serpent, yet nothing was defiled (made unclean) until Man and Woman disobeyed God’s Word? It is the same today: evil may exist all around us, but it doesn’t defile us until we cooperate with it to violate God’s code of order!
When we disobeyed God, we forfeited our oneness with Him as well as our dominion and authority from Him, falling deep into the dark confusion of the Dominion of Sin. We had no idea how far we fell – we didn’t have the freedom to choose back into our original position and identity even if we wanted to!
Satan became the legal authorized guardian, executioner and the governing ruler over the Domain of Sin. How did he get all that? The short answer is that we gave it to him. The more thoughtful answer is that Satan knows God's laws and plays chess with the human heart to checkmate us by our own choices to disobey and break the law. The primary consequence of that disobedience is a separation from The Lord, and guess who moves into those choices and all by legal access.
He furthers his dominion and rule through the disobedience of people to God’s rule and code of order – then and now! Satan takes further advantage of those who are not yet awakened to righteousness or who remain in disobedience. In general, he needs legal access through open doors and agreements that are counter to godliness.
Take heart beloved, the enemy can not bring the harm of a curse on you where there is no cause, much like the Garden of Eden was not defile, even though Satan was there in rebellion of God.
Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse will not land on its intended victim. Prov 26:2
While the curse of the law describes the consequences of disobedience to God’s ways, it also describes the provisional redemption for the curse, PTL!
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law…having become a curse for us (for it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Gal 3:13, 14
From the beginning, God designed Mankind for His law to be within us, internalized in our hearts -- not as a list of dos and don'ts but as an integrated code of order of His very Nature -- to be like Him! There is no need to have a prohibition to not lie, because you are truth, like Him!
However, once we fell our internal realm became corrupted and bound to sin – not just occasionally, but it became our state of being. God, therefore described His Word to us externally as a substitution, along with the entire sacrificial system as a substitute, until He could and would create in us a new heart and re-internalize His Word in our hearts. Within His Word He described His solution and called Him, Messiah.
So our Substitution showed up, not as a animal or even a really good guy kind of a sacrifice, but as the Incarnate God Himself, the Eternal Word – God in Christ – to substitute His death for ours, His curse for ours! God brilliantly entered the Dominion of Sin as Someone who was without fault, without corruption, a sinless Human became sin for us – He answered His own Law of atonement by becoming the Atonement.
He then went straight to Sheol, the place of the dead. However, when a very alive Messiah shows up in a very dead place – it is not business as usual (Matt 12:39-41). The Lord’s innocence, gave Him legal right (according to His own just code of order) to purchase, redeem, buy back, pay in full the penalty price of the curse, which was a pure Sacrifice.
In fierce enmity, Jesus dethroned Satan, took the keys of hell and death, preached liberty to the captives bound there and busted death and the grave wide open! He thoroughly enjoyed that moment and I’m learning to enjoy it, too! Jesus was raised incorruptible and was the First Fruits of all those who would be born again back into the incorruptible Word of God being re-internalized and written on our hearts!
…having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever…" 1 Peter 1:23
So that, through the SUPREMACY OF HIS BLOOD, all things could be made new!
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Cor 5:17:15
Beloved, the flesh is old and corrupt – it looks, acts and smells like the Serpent – it is at enmity with God and those who love God! NEVER EVER in the New Testament do we see redemption, regeneration, nor reformation applied to the flesh as a clean up job. Nope, Father’s instruction is to put that old stinky thing to death by His Spirit and become entirely new!
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Rom 8:12-14
