Of the many books of the Bible we should familiarize ourselves with, Romans is a biggie! In the Apostle Paul’s unique literary style of being thorough, the Book of Romans is a profound big picture telling of the impassioned heart of God towards mankind, His intentions and action plan. Paul, using a slew of Old Testament types and shadows, marched up through Scripture to climax the revelation of God’s election of grace of all those who received righteousness by faith. He spanned all of history in a big picture synopsis, building his teaching through chapters one through eight. Then Paul seemingly slowed his pace to give an outlined overview of the tenure and surety of ethnic Israel’s election of grace.
In chapter nine, he accounted for the call of chosen Israel; in chapter ten, their falling away; and chapter eleven, their restoration. Also in chapter eleven, Paul revealed timing and context of when national Israel would come to know Jesus as their Messiah before the Second Coming of Christ – which harmonizes with other prophetic timelines in the Old Testament!
Paul, also teaches that there are two constituents that comprise make up God’s Elect: ethnic Israel and engrafted Gentiles. His FOCAL POINT for retelling Israel's history and purpose was teach of the surety of the restoration of ethnic Israel which is know as the final redemption of the Jewish people. Paul taught that this would happen at the end of the age and that we as Gentiles should expect to see the fulfillment of this end-time prophecy. The Bride of Christ has always been Israel, and will always be Israel with Gentiles grafted in.
There are two polarizing approaches in the Church today, as previously described in Section Two, Ruth, A Type and Ruth, A Zionist at Heart, the Ruth Church has a supernatural and profound allegiance to the State of Israel and the ethnic Jewish people. Why is this so? Primarily because the Bible repeatedly foretells of Israel's final redemption as well as Israel is the center stage of end time events.
The other, shamedly, is the Ophra Church who is disannulling any and all allegiance to the State of Israel and the Jewish people. This is clearly an affront to both God’s heart and His Word so explicitly revealed throughout Scripture describing Israel’s final redemption as the climax of end-time prophecy!
No doubt you’ve noticed the nations in our day polarized as well regarding the modern State of Israel. We can understand the source of the who behind the what! We will explore and do a thorough review of the subtleties of the Mystery of Iniquity or Lawlessness further in Section Four, but for now, our focus is to understand God’s position concerning Israel which is clearly articulated in Romans.
