Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets (the Tanakh). I did not come to destroy but to fulfill...Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven...Matt 5:17-19
Did Jesus really mean that? When asked, we usually give a very vague and confusing answer that sounds something like, “Well ugh, He meant some of it, kind of, in a way, but not all of it…ugh, well He did away with the Law!” Read more...
The Apostle Paul taught us the difference between the Old and New Covenant, but he would have looked at you kind of funny if you referred to the Tanakh as the Old Testament – he would of simply referred to it as the Scriptures! To be clear, Paul did not teach against the Old Testament, he revealed the New Covenant as the Old Testament promise– big difference!
The Apostle Paul became the Sherlock Holmes of the New Testament to reveal what he
called mysteries. The word mystery is used over 25 times in the New Testament, spoken by Jesus, John, and Paul. By far, the majority were penned by Paul to reveal what he called the Mystery of Christ. Read more...
So did Paul teach to do away with the Law or to obey the Law? Neither, praise the Lord! He taught us to live from perfection within to without! Perfection is a scary word when we think of behavior, or at least it is for me! For those of us orientated towards performance and perfection, we often misunderstand the New Testament’s teaching and experience of perfection. And since we are held within the grip of our own vision, let’s make sure we have the right focus in view! Read more...
The new man is God’s greater creation as a good and holy chamber for the perfection of His Presence and Word to dwell within and shine out from. Did you know, if you have been born again, that within your new man right this very second, there is no sin, no iniquity, no transgressions, but there is true holiness, true righteousness and the true Law of God – you are a perfected new man! Many New Testament believer's think that Paul’s teaching on the justification by faith is a post-cross doctrine. However, man has been required to believe God, and has been justified by faith (taking God at His Word), from the VERY BEGINNING! Justification by faith is not a New Testament doctrine – it has always been and will always be. It was required before and after the fall to believe God’s Word. Read more...
It is critical that we, especially Gentiles grafted into Israel, understand Paul’s tremendous effort to reveal the big picture of the believers in the Gospel of Grace throughout the whole of Scripture were all justified by faith in the Holy One to come! And “those believers” are called God’s Elect, His Church – the election of grace! Paul’s intent was not to say “those guys are out and you guys are in, but to reveal God’s greater plan of how He would include both into His Church, the Israel of God. Read more...
As Jesus was speaking to His Jewish brethren, when he mentioned the Gentiles, He said,
As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. John 10:15-17
The Bible categorizes humanity into two groups of folk: Jews and Gentiles. Read more...
Of the many books of the Bible we should familiarize ourselves with, Romans is a biggie! In the Apostle Paul’s unique literary style of being thorough, the Book of Romans is a profound big picture telling of the impassioned heart of God towards mankind, His intentions and action plan. Paul, using a slew of Old Testament types and shadows, marched up through Scripture to climax the revelation of God’s election of grace of all those who received righteousness by faith. Read more...
If you are interested in Biblical end-time events, Romans chapter 11 provides a “sequence of events” that we can all mark our calendars by! It also gives direct admonishment for believing Gentiles to have a loving and humble respect for the Jewish people and the nation of Israel. Once again, in the pristine writ of Scripture,
I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! Read more...
Question: Have the engrafted Gentiles replaced ethnic Israel yet? Does Paul say, or even insinuate, that the engrafted Gentiles will have a different fate than the Israel they’ve been engrafted into?
The fact of the matter is that Jesus is the Root of the Olive Tree Israel, His ONE True Bride! The Scriptures do not reveal a different purpose, nor fate in the end-times for God’s singular Bride of Jews and Gentiles. The Gentile Church is not a separate entity. Read more...
You can not imagine how utterly amazed I was when I listened to someone teach on how the gardener of an olive grove could produce a higher yield of olives from non-producing branches. Read more...
We need the chazah of God! Revelation, something that should be highly valued by each of us, is present in some measure waiting to dawn on all who humble themselves before the Lord and seek to know and understand. There are uneducated folk who are highly educated and skilled in the Lord’s revelation. Likewise, there are some very educated folk who don’t have the spiritual discernment of a cow! You can know a lot, but not have revelation. Revelation comes as an impartation from God’s very Presence. Hunger for God finds God – and it really is just that simple! Read more...
Jesus, the Messiah, has two constituents in His One Body – two in one, or you could say, Jesus has One Body with two constituents – one in two!
The two-in-one and one-in-two imagery are used by Ezekiel, Zechariah, Paul, and John all describing God’s elect and their identity in prophetic imageries. Though they are two constituents of His One Elect Body, they are both present and fully engaged during the end-times! Read more...
One time, a non-believing fella said to me, “IF I were to believe in God, then it would be because of the existence of the nation of Israel in the world today and the change that I have seen in you!” -- too bad he chose not to believe, because he supports the evidence! Ezekiel chapter 37 is one of those amazing chapters that hold a two-tier time-release punch of prophecy illustrating both Israel’s restoration after her first and second exile! The chapter is chalk full of end-time revelatory truths. However, we’ll unpack just one of the them, the two-in-one imageries... Read more...
Much like the books of Ezekiel, Daniel and Revelation, the book of Zechariah is a Book of Visions – with yet another end-time timeline of events. Both Zechariah and Haggai were post-first exile prophets who prophesied of things to come. Why is it important to know this? Because their prophesies hold a time release of two restorative time periods in Israel’s history, in their day and the end-time. Read more...
Both Zechariah and John reveal the two anointed ones. We will visit end-time prophetic perspectives later, but for the purpose of understanding the One New Man let’s see who John says they are. These fellas are bold, no, very bold, to confront the end-time global political and religious Babylonian system which challenges the EXCLUSIVITY of God’s authority and covenantal promises. Scripture is replete with the end-time ethnic Jews being restored back in the Land of Israel while the era of the Age of the Gentiles is closing – somehow, we assumed “closing” meant the exit of the Gentiles. It is easy to come to that conclusion if it were not further revealed and our role as Gentiles being described. Read more...
