Consider how God would bring us back to clarity, and to do so by our free-will choice, once we fell into the realm of our convoluted perceptions darkened in confusion and doubt. We will see God’s benevolent effort to illuminate us again.
Let's start by using white light as an example to illustrate what the Law does for us. Considering the shining Light of God to be like white light, our natural eye can not see it, detect it or perceive it. However, when beamed through a prism, white light is fractured (divided) into distinguishable colors, three primary and seven total. Once the light is fractured (divided) we can then see the different parts that make up the composition of white light.
The Mosaic Law is like the prism that fractures (divides) the Light of God into distinguishable and understandable parts. By fracturing (dividing) the Light from above, God helps us begin to see, comprehend and perceive His will, more specifically the Kingdom of Heaven's code of order -- which is the Kingdom Jesus encourages us to pray on earth AS it is in Heaven! By dividing His singular Light into perceivable parts, He helps us begin our journey back to a powerful singular clarity!
The Mosaic Law was never the goal in and of itself, but a mere type and shadow. However, its Substance is spiritual and holy – the essence of God’s very Presence compressed into individual words. The Mosiac Law is like a prism that simply fractured (divided) what we could not see, comprehend or perceive in our fallen state so that when the true Light came, we could recognize Him as The Light. The Law was a tutor unto Christ. Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying,
“I Am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." John 8:12
But before faith in Messiah came, we were kept under guard by the Law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore the Law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. Gal 3:23-25
When the Torah prescribed the details of the one tabernacle in the wilderness, one door, one brazen alter, one laver of water, one table of showbread, one menorah, one altar of incense, one veil, one ark of the Covenant – they were all speaking of the One to come, Jesus the Messiah! And what did Jesus say of Himself?
“I Am the Door . I Am the Light. I Am the Bread. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Understanding the Mosaic Law (not to be mistaken with being under the penalty of the Law) is like a spiritual textbook to reveal a much greater reality – the Light of Jesus! Jesus is the manifestation of God to mankind.
…God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:19
…great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh… I Tim 3:16
…the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 1 John 4:9
Beloved, Jesus is the preeminent essence of the Word; He is the very Substance of the Law. He IS the Greater Reality by and from which all Truth exists!
For by Him all things were created that are in Heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Col 1:16
