The Ceremonial Law was a code of order revealing how to approach, worship and be married to the Holy One! God required in the Mosaic Law an earthy tangible code of order to reveal His greater Heavenly code of order. The true Tabernacle of God is in Heaven and the true Priest of that Tabernacle upholds and serves its divine order – which exists this very moment -- present tense!
The Ceremonial Law is a detailed divisionary process between what is holy and unholy, clean and unclean, common and uncommon regarding: God and idols, Israel and Gentiles, common days and special days, right ways and wrong ways to make sacrifices and offerings, clean foods and unclean foods, right attitudes and wrong attitudes, etc. These are ALL classrooms of learning God’s divisionary process so that we could return to absolute clarity and purity.
In our best good efforts, we began to reach for righteousness and immediately learned from our classroom that internal righteousness and a clear conscience was beyond our grasp. Even when God revealed what to divide and separate from, we needed His power to both realize and do it. This is exactly what our Bridegroom wanted us to learn – our deep and profound need of Him! Our primary lesson was that we needed an atonement that was beyond our own effort!
The Lord prescribed a required sacrifice in the earthly tangible realm, which was to serve as a silhouette of the Greater Sacrifice to come. Our Bridegroom, passionate for His Bride, planned a day that He would divest Himself of radiant Light, cloak Himself in the garment of man, descend wayyyyyyy down into our captivity and take on our iniquity, transgression, and sin -- the darkness that we had became. It was one thing for us to have the promise of the Incarnate Seed that would crush the Serpent’s head, but it was beyond our wildest imagination that The Lord would Incarnate Himself and become the prerequisite Lamb of God. While we know this, it is almost incomprehensible to realize the power of this extraordinary reality,
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29
The SUFFICIENCY OF HIS BLOOD can not be grasped in this earthly realm, only spiritually can we know and experience the profound grace given through His atonement. When we speak of the "sufficiency" of the Blood of Jesus, it is a term meaning completeness or fulfillment. BUT in our modern language, the word sufficiency carries a “barely or just enough” kind of meaning. However, it would be a better understood to use the phrase in our modern language as the SUPREMACY OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS!
The Holy of Holies illustrated in the Mosaic Law was simply a prefigurement of the Heavenly Holy of Holies and the inner Holy of Holies in our hearts, the marvelous place and union we fell from in the fall,
But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation…eternal redemption…He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Heb 9:11-27 (Please read this passage in its entirety. Actually the entire Book of Hebrews is a good read!)
Jesus has fulfilled the earthly ceremonial requirements of the Mosaic Law COMPLETELY, but now what? Is there still a divisionary process between good and evil, clean and unclean, holy and unholy? Here is the Apostle's Paul counsel on that question,
O Corinthians!...Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."
2 Corinthians 6:11-18
Beloved, now we get to live in the restored power of righteousness through the Holy Spirit! We get to pray for and proclaim God’s code of order here on earth as it is in Heaven!
