The Emergent church does not talk about sin, judgment, or absolute Biblical truths. In fact, in many circles, repentance is outdated, archaic and unnecessary. Rather they encourage story time, conversations and mystical experiences.
On the surface, this strategy appears to be a preemptive modality to have deeper conversations at some later time. But make no mistake, doctrines and absolute truths are never to be used in any form of church education. It is believed that truth must be diluted because the post-modern age of Millennials, and successive generations, don’t like and will not listen to dogma. This is simply not true.
The Millennials are looking for substantiated, authentic and power-filled truth. Churches who are preaching and teaching the full strength of the Gospel are enjoying rapid and sustained growth rates. If direct truth is so unpopular, why are they growing? It is simply just a lie that Millennials and younger generations don’t want direct truth. In fact, it is desperately sought after by them! But for those who are being hijacked by the replacement of Biblical truths for the lie that truth can not be known or that truth is supposed and not certain, make no mistake – this is wolf language ba-ba-ba-ing up to the sheep!
The teaching of evil forces are marginalized by being considered perspectives, fearful illusions of the simple. How convenient, for this evil deception! They teach and seek cooperation with the pluralities of faith and that there are many ways to God. They overlay the Name of Jesus and Christ on pluralism, pantheism, agnosticism, neo-pietism - all blending into what they call a Universal Jesus or Universal Christ. There is a passive disdain taught to condescend and not accept those who believe that the Scriptures are absolutely true, being labeled as fundamental, old school church folk void of any enlightenment.
Admittedly, when the Lord encouraged me to research the Emergents and their swelling influence in the Western Church today, I did a scratch-and-sniff kind of approach, but soon realized the Western Church is under siege! It was enough to heighten my awareness of the language of good being hijacked and the doctrine of assimilation.
You cannot imagine the dread I felt, one Wednesday evening in a nearby local church when I heard a young man admonishing us as evangelical Christians to be more open to the methods and goodwill agenda. Then playing a video in the sanctuary of about the the light of human love as a guiding light to lead and fix the broken and empty. I was shocked!
Can you tell the difference between praise lyrics that are centered around God’s love verses the deifying of human love and goodness? Make no mistake, this is Mystery Babylon amongst us! Our young people and children are being scripted with lingo that agrees with their parents faith in concept, but make no mistake, is far from the truth of their parent’s faith! We are on the brink of loosing an entire generation.
The new spirituals of our day proud themselves as being “unbound” from the narrowness of God’s absolute truths and have been enlightened by the absolutes of universalism. Disciples of Jesus would do better to enter by the narrow gate rather than follow the masses in the broad way that leads to destruction!
So is this influx within our churches naive or calculated, intentional or unintentional -- God will be the Judge of that. But what we do know, is that the spirit of this age of apostacy is behind this gross assimilated deception with a calculated intent for the demise of God’s people. Well-intended progressives are no match for the Deceiver! He baits his hook with the lie that if we dilute God’s truth and ways by leading His people in rationally and culturally relevant progressive methods that we will grow the Kingdom.
Ego, not faith, takes the bait every time!
One very important fact, we are not called to have faith in what we do not know, but in what we know to be truth! It is not a guess or a hope, but faith in the surety of God's word,
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Here is a powerful truth, seek to please God first, obey His Word and we are promised to see His Kingdom grow!
