TONIGHT begins the Feast of Sukkot! A quick scratch-n-sniff of the Feast of Sukkot...
In its rich symbolism, it tells of Israel's extraordinary journey from bondage to freedom and ultimately the fulfillment of all God's promises to the both Jew and Gentile alike!
Did you know some historians link the American holiday "Thanksgiving" to this Biblical observance?
Prior to coming to America, the Pilgrims found a guide in Scripture of the Feasts of The Lord to deepen, practice and rehearse both what had been fulfilled as well as what will be fulfilled, particularly with the Feast of Sukkot (or Tabernacles)!
Agrarianly, it is a feast to celebrate "the ingathering of the harvest" as well as the poetic prophetic language the Bible uses in both the Old and New Testament describing end times.
The "observance" of Sukkot is for "those native to Israel" to build temporary huts for family and friends to celebrate in commemorating the journey from bondage to freedom - the process of inner liberation! It is a week long party of recalling the faithfulness of God and giving thanks to Him! Anddddd, wait for it...praying for the nations of the world to receive The Lord's atonement unto salvation!
And with this ONE theme throughout the Feast, family and friends gather within their Happy Huts, eating and drinking with one another, enjoying what God has done and joyfully anticipating what God will do!
In short, this is the symbolism and sentiment behind the traditional American Thanksgiving that the Pilgrims were echoing. And this is what Jews will celebrate beginning tonight all over the world in their "Sukkos of Joy!"
Sukkot's big picture symbolism is:
What God did...
• The Jews Exodus from the bondage of Egypt to the freedom of The Promise Land
What God is doing...
• Man's freedom from the bondage of sin and being born again into the "New Man" -- free from sin
What God will do...
• This world being delivered from the bondage of evil at Messiah's coming and rule -- the whole world experiencing freedom from evil.
A particular exclamation point for THIS Feast of The Lord, is that it will be a required celebration globally throughout the Messianic Age (Zech 14:16-20)!
Friends, there will be struggle and great trial in these end times, which we must all prepare ourselves for, but for those of us who believe can sit in our Happy Huts and celebrate what He HAS done and what He WILL do in His amazing faithfulness to His Beloved!
May your Happy Huts be full of joy and blessing - Chag Sukkot Sameach! 🙌
