Woman, did something remarkably different than Adam – she without excuse or blame, confessed!
The Lord God said to the Woman, “What is this that you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me and I ate.” Gen 3:13
Woman accepted personal responsibility for both being deceived AND her actions, plain and simple. God went on to question the Serpent and with a conclusive curse, cursed the very nature of the Serpent, and He gave consequential curses on the dominions of man and woman - not their identities! Woman’s response was the beginning of a reversal of what had been done. God rewarded her confession, as He does with all true confession, with the promise of redemption through the promised Seed.
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel." Gen 3:15
In natural reproduction, woman does not bear the seed, man does. The promised “Seed of the Woman” was the first Incarnate Gospel message! She was a type and shadow of all who would take personal responsibility for their sin, make confession of their sin as a breach of God’s absolute truth and find God’s promised redemption for their sins.
Once Adam saw, experienced and witnessed Woman’s confession before God, he seemed to come back into his right mind, so much so that he resumed his headship and leadership by re-naming or re-identifying Woman, not as “Mother of the Fall, Shame and Death,” but Eve, which means, “Mother of ALL the Living.”
Her Hebrew name, Havvah, is much more descriptive. It means giver of life but is written in the causative taken from the root meaning to tell or declare. Another words, Adam re-named her as the mother of all those who tell and declare as givers of life! She was the prototype of the Church, God’s Elect in the earth, though we were dead in our sins, confessed our sins and are appointed as His witnesses to go and tell and be givers of life! We will learn throughout Scripture and our personal sojourns that God rewards those who take personal responsibility!
At this point in the narrative, we are introduced to God’s chosen vehicle back to Him and His ways; it is called faith! Faith is a voluntary choice to believe. They (we) would be held by the cord of voluntary faith, until the Seed of the Woman would come and crush the Serpent’s head and rescue them from the Serpent’s involuntary (no choice) Dominion of Sin ruled by fear – this became the hope of Mankind.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1
When we had perfect clarity from within, we didn't need faith, we knew God as He Is. But once clarity was external to us we would need to learn of Him and do the diligent work of believing Him. Note Jesus’ answer to the well-intended,
Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent." John 6:28, 29
Faith is the closest thing to that "knowing" that we had with Him in the beginning -- faith is "perceptive knowing!" When we believe something and accept it as truth, then the outflow from that belief is the transmission of faith. Living by this perceptive knowing of God’s Word, not clouded by doubts, is the outflow of The Kingdom from within to without, which is a measurable force!
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Matt 17:20
God greatly values our free will so much so that He allows us to make both right and wrong choices. Since the clarity of truth was now external to us, we would need to see and learn truth on external mediums. In God’s benevolence, He compresses His Presence of Light into Words – individual Words, describing Him and that reveals His Nature and His will. We could then make free will choices (a divisionary process) from an absolute standard of truth, whether closer to Him or away from Him – this is the work of conscience. The compression of His Presence into Seed form, Word by Word, would reveal the Seed of the Woman.
